As per the title really, my dressage mare has enough warmblood parentage to be eligible for BWBS papers (ironically registered with SHB(GB) though

Is it worth it? What are the advantages / disadvantages? What happens to her existing passport - is it overstampted by BWBS?

Sorry - lots of questions

The main purpose/advantage of grading a mare into a studbook other than/ in addition to her studbook of origin is to ensure that her foals by stallions graded into that studbook themselves are eligible for pure bred (AKA pink) papers/passport and branding (if permitted) from the studbook into which both parenst are graded.

IOW, its worth doing if the stallion you have chosen to use is graded BWBS -- or WBB(UK) as we are now supposed to call them -- otherwise her studbook of origin should be the automatic first choice for grading.

NB: This comment is not meant to be pro or anti any studbook, its just the general advice I give to all mare owners asking what studbook to grade their mare into.

Yes, overstamped and (I think) the grading scores and studbook number added too alongside the stamp.
