Hi All
Further to previous post, many thanks to those who PM'd me, looks like we can def get 3 yr old registered as a Scottish Sports Horse which will enable him to go to BYEH if we want to....so I'm wondering if anyone has been and what its like? Is it dreadfully intimidating? I have visions of all sorts of posh horses and experienced breeders and then us turning up in our beat up old horsebox and looking very out of place!
We'd really just be going for the experience - I am a BE member so entry fees aren't too bad and guessing they have a good photographer? So a nice day out?
Here is horse in question:
(sorry, don't have many photos of him stood up in hand so will post best ones I have!)

Taken before we bought him:

And a few weeks ago before mane pulled etc! Know bit useless as a confo shot cos of rug but probably gives a general idea of how he looks stood to attention:

So is it worth taking him? Will we end up looking totally out of place or do you think nicely plaited and presented he might fit in?

Unless BYEH has changed (they may well have for all I know) then it is a ridden competiton for 4 & 5yo's. You are looking at roughly 3ft for 4yo's and 3'3/3'6 for 5yo's , it really is a wait and see how they are progressing under saddle sort of siuation.

No reason why you couldn't do the PAVO in hand thing this autumn though, nice and local for you

The PAVO In Hand thing is no long sponsored by PAVO and instead has the incredibly confusing name of BEYH Championships as opposed to BYEH at Burghley....talk about way to confuse people!!!!!!!

Ah ha, BEYH instead of BYEH!! of course, clear as mud!! Thanks ER23, I knew it wasn't pavo any more but hadn't grasped the difference between BYEH and BEYH

Yes...we took RufusBlueMoon's now 2 yr old Caretino Glory boy there last year and he was the Yearling Champ.

I think they have done it to purposely confuse everyone.....BEYH and BYEH!!!

We took our now 5yo Spider as a yearling and 2 yo and he was placed both times, wouldnt ahve bothered if we didnt have something else going, it is very relaxed though and a nice atmosphere, they only let i think 15 entries in per age group though.

PAVO (sponsors) is now the Lycetts British Eventing Young Horse Championships - with in hand and hten the 4, 5, 6 yo champs.

Burghley Young Event Horse is 4 and 5yo and nothing to do with BE.

LOL! How to confuse B&J !!!

Given you are local I'd say it is definitely worth doing, not sure I'd travel from miles away for it though!

Mine did it as a 2yo, was held back in the final 8 but wasn't in the final 6, so we finished either 7th or 8th along with a coloured colt.

Even better! Have tracked down his dad and mum and their respective blood samples (with SSH and Wetherbys Ireland lab!) and so will be calling through tomorrow to get all the forms sent through to get him sorted. Many thanks for all your help! ER23, would he look ok amongst the other 3 yer olds do you think? I am a bit biased in thinking he's quite a nice looking lad, would appreciate other opinions!
