Booked theory test but just realised the book a friend has given me says test questions till end of 2011..
Should I get a new book and is there anything else I should read. Thank you. Doing C1 as I got the prov put on my licence ages ago and if I change it to C I might have to have another medical and it will take time.

I did mine early on this year and used a book which was a couple of years older to revise with. 90% of the questions that came up on the exam were written word for word and the odd couple of 'newer' ones were just written in a slightly different way but none of it was information that I hadnt learnt.

It depends on how you learn but I felt I learnt better by doing mock exams and questions on the internet more helpful than sitting and reading and trying to absorb it all. I ust kept doing practice test after practice test until I had done that many I knew every question it was going to throw at me!

This is quite good - it comes up with 50 random questions each time http://www.2pass.co.uk/mocktheorylgvtest.htm

The DSA have produced new theory books across the board which contain the same info but no Q&As
The test at the theory test centre remains the same

The only reason you will need another medical is if you have reached the age of 45 then every 5 years

If you have a D4 medical at age say 20 then there is no time limit until age 45
The theory test pass has a 2 year time limit

Thank you Rog but thought if I wanted to change my C1 prov[ which I have had on my license for 10 years but never got round to doing anything] to a C they might want me to have the medical again and our horsebox is only 7.5 so don't mind doing just that one. I have done the online 2 sample tests without learning anything and got 43/50 and 42/50. The questions I got wrong were the tacho ones and sheeting ones and clutch/engine/ diesel ones so need to learn about those things.
Test is next Thursday so lots of learning to do.
Then will have an assessment and training asap

This is a strange one .... if you only ticked for C1 provisional then the current medical covers just that so a new medical will be needed for C
If you ticked for C1 and/or C then the medical will cover C1 and C
Pass C1 if that is the only provisional listed now and no new medicals will be needed for any other LGV test

Will I have to have a medical every 5 years after 45 even if I just drive my own horses, my parents don't. I am 31, but they only drive on Grand dads rights thing
The pre 97 C1s are expiry dated for 70 years of age and at that age a D4 medical will be required and will last for 3 years

C1s gained by passing a DSA test come under the other medical rules I mentioned earlier

For others reading - ALWAYS tick C & D (nothing else) on the D2 form
