Caffeine for horses?

Have you ever yourself or heard of anyone giving caffeine to a horse to perk it up (like Pro Plus tablets)? How would caffeine affect a horse?

Just wondering as overheard someone talking about it.

I don't think it would take that much because they don't normally have it, so don't have the tolerance us coffee-junkies do!
 
I know of someone who did give pro plus-12 at a time. She reckoned it helped-not sure I would do it. Same person also gave sleeping tabs-over the counter chemist own brand-to sedate her horse for clipping. Have to admit that it did seem to work.
