Hi

I have a wintec gp saddle with cair at the moment which I use for my mare who changes shape quite a bit and to be honest I dont ride that much, I have just used it to back my three year old with no problems and he is now being turned away for a year to mature, but when he comes back next year I want to get him a wintec dressage saddle as he will be doing flat work for a while and starting to go out and about but he will obviously be changing shape alot so I dont want to get a 'proper' saddle just yet but I just wondered what everyones opinions are on the flock or the cair as I'm not sure which to get for him.

Thanks

Having just paid over £100 to have my Albion Dressage Saddle with Flair reflocked on advice of my trainer and saddle fitter I would suggest a flocked saddle would be preferable. Air flocking seems to have gone out of fashion as quickly as it came in!

I have a cair one and i think the panels are harder than flocked ones! so id go for a flocked one tbh and it would be easier to reflock ... Although both can be reflocked as i got mine done a while ago ... but my freind got the new wintec 500 and apparently its flock with gel! the panels are nice and soft on it

I had two Wintec 2000s at the same time - one flock and one cair. I thought the cair panels seemed slightly softer than the flock ones. My horse didn't really seem to care which one was used though.

Flair and Cair are two different things, do a internet search and you will find all the info you need. we use Wow Saddles which are only made with flair (air bags, so soft on your horses back)

Definitely use a flocked saddle on your horse. I recently spoke to three different saddlers regarding cair vs flocked, and all advocated flock.

FYI did you know that Wintec saddles are actually made in Vietnam these days? I personally wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, and I actually wonder why you aren't considering a Thorowgood? They are still made in the UK aren't they? If so, support your local manufacturers. It means the money you spend stays in the country.

Sorry for hijacking the thread ...

Thanks I think I'll go for flock, I'm only going for wintec again as I have the measuring guage and complete set of gullets already otherwise I would go for thorowgood but as I'm not planning on keeping the saddle once his shape has stopped changing as much so I really want to keep costs down as much as possible so I would like to get the more popular model with a view to selling it on when I'm finished with it. Thanks for all your replies
