I'm looking fo a new saddle and see Bates mainly have the Cair panel system. Does anyone else use this? Is it good or bad? Does it need much maintenance? Does the panels need filling with air again often?

Any advice would be much appreciated

i had a wintec with cair that lasted me a good 6 yrs , it was already 2yrs old when we got it ! and we got it checked and it was still great condition inside! we have just upgraded to the bates momentum! and sold the wintec (held its value well to !).
Soem people dont like it but others do so i find it just depends on the horse, i would not use it on my horse but it does seem to suit my cob and pony really well!

I have a mare with no withers and the wintec I invested in was the best thing I ever did....it never slips after years of fustration with 'fitted' saddles, I have also just backed a youngster in another, both with the cair system.
I certainly would always buy one..........

In some saddles they have put too much air in so they are very hard. Not in all though. They cant be adjusted though. This obviously doesnt allow for any asymetry, which most horses have. They are basically a sponge inside a sealed bag that is filled with air.

The flair system of air flocking is much better IMO because you can adjust it according to any asymetry/changes as often as you like.
