Evenning all.

Share horse has been in a wintec cair saddle for about a month or two now. I`m just wondering if there is anything particular I need to keep an eye out on regarding this type of saddle. The knee rolls ar attached by velcro and I find I have to alter them slightly every so often so they are properly in line with the saddle.

Thanks!

I've used only Cair saddles for the past 4 years. The Cair takes care of itself (no pun intended). Just have the fit checked at the usual intervals. Flocking can be added and taken away with Cair if the horse's shape ever requires that.

It has air panels instead of flocking.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes I know, sorry that was probably a bit confusing. Even with the air, if a horse becomes uneven, a saddler can flock in addition for as long as needed

You don't have to maintain it any differently to any other saddle. I think the air in the 'Flair' system may sometimes need 'pumping-up' but not in Cair

Out of curiosity where would the flocking go?, on the cair website it states if a panel becomes puncutured it must be replaced. How much give should there be in each of the panels?, seems to have more give than the last saddle.

You can't flock a cair saddle, however keep an eye on the tree (that adjustible metal thingy). Most folks go for the GP saddle which I have to say I love but try the Wintec 2000 and you'll ditch this in the bin. The girth straps on the totally sythentic saddle wear quick (holes stretch so you're better off with leather straps -Wintec 2000) as do all the rider horse contact parts. I like to think of this saddle having a 4 year life span but it is 4 years worth of comfort for your horse. I have her checked over by a saddler every 6 months but what I heard from other people is you either love or hate these saddles - I've been lucky

You can't flock a cair saddle,

[/ QUOTE ] Sorry but thats just not correct. I don't think you can flock a Flair saddle, but you can definately flock a Cair saddle (the flocking is put in the saddle adjacent to the Cair). When I bought my mare 3 years ago, she was very asymetrical. My saddler flocked at the front on one side and at the back on the other. It was removed when she evened-up.

I do have the leather Bates Cair saddles though. I wouldn't have thought there would be any reason why the synthetic ones couldn't be flocked, but I'm just a customer, not a saddler so I don't know for sure.

There's your answer the Wintec can't it is totally air filled (don't know enough about the Bates, except they look great but weigh a ton), with a Wintec it either fits or it doesn't

Well, you learn something new everday! I'm suprised because the Wintec is made by Bates, its just the name they give to their synthetic saddles. You would think that the principle would be the same wouldn't you? Or maybe thats just me

I rode in a cair saddle (wintec) once and I felt like I was riding on a balloon. Yes the pony was bouncy but the saddle felt terrible. Not keen on them, got wintec with flocking tho, they are comfy...

Wow, I'm learning quick here my Saddle is solid as a rock, Iunderstoof Bates purchased the Cair franchise from Wintec? Though you can flock a Wintec saddle though not with a cair it says it in the manual

I will double check on what the saddle is, I`m pretty sure it is a Wintec 200.

It has a suede seat and detachable knee rolls. It took me a while to get used to,not terribly keen on it.

I`ll keep an eye on the tree, anything else?.

i have the bates gp with cair and my auntie has the dressage with cair. and i find them really light. she also has a made to measure dressage saddle for another of her horses which i twice as heavy as ours. i found the interchangable gullet system a god send after my horse was off work due to injury for 5 months when i came to get on her saddle just perched on her back got a wider gullet and hey presto fits perfect again. i know you can have the bates flocked cos my saddler said last time he was out to check it but it didnt need doing
