Hello...

Just about to arrange a pre Christmas meet up, small numbers ideally, had two nice eves earlier in the year, when other HHO members came over for a dual purpose exercise so seeing who else is interested.
Last time I made a thai curry with all the trimmigs, Be Positive made a yummy Eton Mess..the time before I made a Southern Indian type Curry, Boozey Chocolate brick cake and home made raspberry icecream...we had two nice evenings and was nice to meet new faces.

The dual purpose side was a positive experience for my rescue dog who is scared of new people - it worked absolute wonders for his confidence. I would love to do another and have 2 from the original meet ups so far that would like to do more...so anyone interested?

My only asks are: please females only at this stage(he's more worried by men) and that you are not scared of dogs. He's very scared and barky initially but I kept him on a lead, everyone came in and sat down and totally ignored him (no eye contact)..I left bowls of nibbles out (ok home made dog bics but they were yummy so he tells me) so he gradually learnt that new people feed him..he got really brave and then started making friends and showing off his tricks

I would be VERY grateful for anyone who is able to spend a dark wintery rainy evening helping socialize him so am of course feeding you. If lots of people reply i'm more than happy to do several smaller meet ups and then mix up the groups? Happy to do evenings for meal..or coffee cakes in the day etc.

Would be lovely to make some new friends out of it too as I don't know many people locally, it was really lovely to meet like minded people...

When he gets braver I would like to add the occasional stooge dog for a quiet walk somewhere...

any ideas or suggestions please let me know pm if scared.

Other idea was we all bake something and have a complete cake fest! or do similar with a buffet style one eve???:D

Just wish i lived nearer :-( x

Where are you Amanda, may be possible to lift share with someone you never know? well ..unless you're in Aus!:Dx

Whereabouts are you based? I'm in Melcombe Bingham so right in the middle of Dorset

I'm at Shepton Mallet (just south of..so head for the Bath & West & am a bit along from that..so not a million miles

I'm a Dorset person, just lost my dog so would be more than happy to help. :)
I'm very sorry to hear that..yes do come..he genuinely loves making new friends ..ONCE we've got his knees to stop knocking!..once he trusts you and makes the first moves he's a really loving gentle dog..my ex neighbours recently lost their cat & the husband is really tall & daunting(but gentle, calm, slow moving & like Eyeore!) they've been helping me with teaching him friends are good..but he was always weary of the husband(6'6) and always barked at him, till the time he saw him (4th meeting over a ten months) when they had just lost their cat M was devastated as cat was 22- We arrived at their home & instead of woofing..he crept up behind his chair and snuggled his head into the husbands shoulder & gave him a kiss (he thought he was being tasted!)and has been incredibly worried about M ever since so he gets extra cuddles & wiggly happy woofs now..wasn't till I next saw G alone(the wife) she told me M had got very down & depressed & my boy obviously picked up on it..so thats his first male 2 legged friend!

I live in south wilts and will anything for cake/pudding :D PM me your location and I'll be there if you're not massively far away.

Just like me then! :D
