Our GSD(guard dog) has really really bad stools can go upto 6 times a day like water. Vet has done some tests and come back with she is not absorbing her enzymes from her food. Gave her some powder for her food that is v v dear but not really doing any good. Some days she looks in good condition then other she looks poor. She is 6 now and has always been a little loose but is now getting worse and we dont know if PTS is a better idea. We have tried all different foods with her bland foods and dry foods but nothing makes any difference. Do you know of any products that could help her. She is fully wormed so thats nothing to do with it. Thanks.

Hi,

There is a product called Diastanyl (sp) that may work. When you say bland food have you tried really simple like cooking rice and plain chicken.

Sorry thats as helpful as I can be. Hope she gets better soon

There are mediactions for pancreatic problems as helspells suggests, but the suess really depends on the severity of the problem and if the problem in acompanied with other medical problems , there is power which is what u seem to have been given and tablets...look on petmed sites...it may be cheaper to get a prescription there as opposed to your vets if u are finding it expensive, it can be an expensive condition to treat.

It's very important to get her diet stabalised first, and worry about her weight and condition once she is setted on a diet that is highly palatable/digestible , also it's best to feed 3 smaller ,meals as opposed to one big meal, and basiacally needs to be low in everything, fibre, carbs, fat e,t,c.
Ask your vets what prescription diets are available, or look into a food called German Shepherd 24 by royal canin...this may be of help.

It is a very common problem in shepherds....they can be stabalised but can suffer frequent relapses dependant on severity. dependant on how well she responds to an appropriate diet, u will need to be very strict with the diet, no treats or extra food, esp at firs until you can find a food she can fully digest, spaek to your vet or switch vets if u feel u are not getting much from your vet and do some research there will be cheaper alternative's that may be roven to help.
