Horse went for an MRI and they found some calcification on the suspensory. No evidence whether that was causing some intermittent lameness or was a previous injury from years ago. Anyone had experience of the same?

Yes I have, mine had ESPA/DSLD. A very bad diagnosis with a terrible outcome. I hope that yours is from an injury and not a disease process. In the case of my horse it was the entire ligament (both hinds) that were disrupted / calcified, it was evident on ultrasound. If it is specific to a location and only on one leg not 2 or more then I would think this is better news for your horse.

I found similar in mine this time last year on the upper part of the suspensory. Not 100% sure if truly DSLD or if it is actually just because of where the calcification is and actually hasn't calcified on the suspensory and is actually on the bone itself but managing so far....

Thanks Lynz, what measures did you take to manage it? Currently looking at corrective shoeing and medicating thr navicular bursa.

I did corrective shoeing as I also had NPA however after a few miserable months, took it all off and went barefoot. I have to say, he strides out impressively well since being barefoot! I also have him on Cartrophen and MSM as I find MSM makes a huge difference to him.

If it is truly DSLD there is only one outcome however, sadly.

Mine has several death sentences hanging over his head....yet he manages to slip through the cracks. One day I think his luck will catch up with him :(
