As many of you are aware this season has been my first venture into showing where I've taken it seriously and along the way, somehow, we managed to qualify for the Caledonian Showing Championships on several occasions which were held over the weekend.

So in preparation Torin was clipped out on monday and saturday seen a very late evening at the yard making torin gleam and shine like the show horse he should be! Sunday morning came along and after a very sleepless night and early start we were off. Torin in his usual manor travelled like a saint and announced his arrival upon opening the lorry doors! Left him munching to chill for a bit while I went to collect my number and commemorative t shirt (it was a must for our first champs) Got myself sorted and popped his bridle on and wandered up for our first class, best markings which really was just for a bit of fun. With 14 in the class we were rather pleased to place 5th in a class full of beautiful horses! Then in for our in hand coloured class, which was again a strong class, and was absolutely over the moon to be placed 3rd behind 2 very well seasoned horses :) The judge was just the nicest and actually was the lady who placed us 1st at Fife show, giving us our qualification for this class...and she actually remembered Torin which was really lovely.

Lunch break to let the big dude chill out before tacking up for our ridden class and my goodness was he feeling well! He was just class warming up...although I did have to ride with very little leg! He was just super in the ring, really forward and light into my hand and did a superb gallop. Our individual show was going well until he somehow lost footing and slipped during our gallop and lost some concentration but super delighted to be pulled in 4th!

This is where I get a bit soppy...I really am incredibly proud of how far we have come in one season, to even have qualified and been able to take part in the championships is far more than I could have hoped for this year! So we have one show left for this season before a winter of sj and its the Howe Grand Finale where we have gained enough points over the season to compete in the final for the Supreme Of Year :)
Thank you to anyone on here who has given me advice, it has all been much appreciated and put into practice!

Wowsers, that is amazing. What a performance. Well done. He looks lovely. And v exciting about the grand finale. I've never really been into showing until this year, and I now have an idea just how much prep it involves!
