Poor Calli....
No idea how she did it. But came up to the stables one morning to find Calli had done this to herself....
Anyway rang Mr Vet. When he came he said that it couldn't be stitched as the skin was too old, about 6-8 hours. So she somehow did it in the middle of the night in her stable.
She had to be sedated as she woulnd't let him near it, not surprising as he was sawing flaps on skin off!!!
Gave it a clean and bandaged it up. He said she had to be on box rest for 2 months! Great. He was then coming out the next tuesday to re-dress it and assess how she was getting on.
* Pictures from the Friday morning*
So Mr Vet came back out last Tuesday. Took the bandage off and gave it a clean. He said it was healing VERY well and it should heal quicker than expected! He said that she should only need 3 weeks box rest now and so far there were no signs of infection.
New green bandage
Not impressed
So then we had Mr Vet out again this morning. Nothing has changed really, she is allowed out for a little munch for about 5 minutes but no more. Looked slightly worse than last time which was expected, but still healing well and no signs of infection.
Not impressed with the red bandage...
So thats about it for now. Vet back out again next Tuesday.
Not much of an update as we haven't been able to do anything since!
I'd just planned her fitness sessions and clipped her too!!
