I’m going to be moving to Berkshire at the end of August, somewhere around the Maidenhead / Windsor area and need to find a yard. The good news is there appears to be a lot of yards. The bad news is that I have no idea which one to choose. I mainly compete in eventing (BE100 with dreams of moving up to novice if I can convince my horse it’s a good idea) but I also compete in dressage (highest level I’ve competed at is elementary (unaffiliated)) and occasionally show jumping.

I’m looking for a yard with great facilities and training opportunities but it needs to be friendly, fun and a good place to hang out as I don’t take myself too seriously.

Therefore I’m wondering if the Berkshire based riders wouldn’t mind answering the following questions:
1) What yard are you based at?
2) Do you compete, and if so in what disciplines?
3) Who do you train with?

Thanks Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,
I live near Holyport, so in between Windsor/Maidenhead-ish. Not much help, as I have just taken my own place, which wouldn't be suitable for you in its present state, but I can throw a few names your way.
Foxley Court (Holyport) is the yard I would move to if I wanted good facilities and nice people, and have also heard good reports about Kimbers Farm Livery (Oakley Green). Fairview Stables in Pinkneys Green is where I kept my horse until recently, ad I loved it there. Turnout a bit limited as they don't have much land, but Minnie, the owner is fab, and has trainers in/clinics regularly.
If you do end up anywhere near Holyport, and need a hacking buddy give me a buzz! I'm on my own, and would love someone to ride with!

There is a really friendly bunch of people at foxley court, many of whom have been there a while - certainly one for your short list. Also join TVRC :)

Thanks for the replies. I will certainly check out Foxley Court and will also join TVRC.

Auslander I'll take you up on your offer to go hacking when I get settled in, which will probably be the end September / early October.

Thanks
Rebecca

Where abouts are you, how far are you willing to travel and what sort of price bracket are you looking at?
What are you must haves in terms of facilities?
