What time do you leave the yard/finish off? Normally I leave about 5.30 and another livery gives the boy his night haynet about 8pm-she offered because she stays really late.

A friend used to finish off about 2.30pm, which struck me as quite mad!

I usually leave about 6.30-7ish though the winter- he has a big double netted haynet and there's usually a bit left in the morning- I get three at about 6am.

2.30? Was the poor horse in from that time too..? :O

Ax

I stay up all day if time allows! If horse is in I'll leave at about seven to give night net etc, if out, I don't leave til about six at the earliest anyway as I like to have a potter about and take my time, my horse is my relaxation :) if her horse is out and doesn't require feeding in eves then I guess half two is ok but personally it's too early for me!

I go up at 6.15am then again at 5.30pm, usually finished about 6.30/7ish, mucking out for 2 that are in 24/7 as boy is on box rest! when hes finally allowed out, they will be out 24/7 with adlib hay, I CANT WAIT! I'm tired all the time, I wake up wanting to cry! I don't know how you all do this!!!

I normally turn out at 5.30 am on work day and 7ish on days off, totally dependant on weather. I bring in at about 4pm in the winter, then walk back up to yard at about 7pm. Top up hay and water and skip out. If I think i'm going to be later in the morning, say 8am, I will go back at night a bit later. I suppose what i'm saying in a very long winded way, is I don't like to leave them longer than 10 hours. I know not everyone can do this, I just like to know they have plenty of hay and water to last until morning. (plus I cant stand the stinky stable in the morning :) )

I feel for you - box rest esp when you're DIY is HARD. Hope horse is on the mend and you can get back to normal soon!
I am now on assisted DIY so go to yard every morning about 7.30am to muck out and turnout, horse gets brought in and fed for me x4 a week then I go back after work (and after I've had my tea!) every eve and finish off about 9ish.

I have just finished a 5 month box rest stint on diy through the summer as well :( horse is out from 7:30 till 1-2. Still end up skipping out on evening & hating up. When on box rest I was at the yard for 5:20 to hand walk & I would go straight to work after that. I'm always tired/grumpy! Cry at everything

I get to the yard at 5am once they are stabled for winter, turn out, muck out, hay nets etc. in the evening I turn up at 5 after work and finish at around 7.30/8 ish. It's long days but its all I know and is my life.

Turn out between 7.39-8.30. In winter fetch in about 5. Leave yard between 6.30-8. Depending on what I am doing

I know someone whose horses get turned out 7-12.30 and she leaves them at 1pm until 7.30 am :(

Normally about 5.30/6ish. Although I start my new job tomorrow and will be at work until 5.30 so my mum and sister will be doing the teatime shift with the horses! If I'm riding I'll need to go up after work so probably won't be there any earlier than 7pm :( and Jazz will be devastated as he'll already have had his tea and be tucked up for the night!

I did it for a long time and my OH went mad at me always falling asleep in the evenings. I eventually caved and asked someone to turn out. I'm extremely fortunate now that a friend works at the dog grooming parlour at the yard and turns out hers and mine first thing before work. Love it.

(plus I cant stand the stinky stable in the morning :) )

Stick a layer of wood pellets under the bed, I guarantee no smell. I ran out of pellets and used shavings only, seriously disgusting stinky horse. I put pellets in yesterday, no smell. Very absorbent, too, if a horse is in a lot.

I just don't know how you lot do it!

My ponies live out and we have no electric on the yard. Now the clocks have changed Ill be getting up at about 5 and doing the best I can with a torch to feed, hay, check, poo pick and fill waters. I am guessing this will takea bout an hour.

Roll on our big move!

I am very lucky as my pony lives out so no set routine.

In the summer I normally leave the yard at about 9pm after I have ridden.

In the winter I leave about 7.30 ish but there are normally other people still there at that time. Us late people are always amazed at how many horses have no hay left by 8pm.

Agree - I give night nets as late as poss - some horses will still run out within a couple of hours but we can't all ad lib unfortunately. I do think some people severly underestimate how quickly some horses get thru their hay.

Comes in after all chores completed to give him as long out as possible, so normally about 7pm. Goes out at 6.30am (latest 8am if I've been on nights) and he always has plenty of haylage left over in the morning.

I have mine at home, when they are in overnight my routine is, turn out at 6am, muck out barn on return from work at 3pm, fill haynets, bring in about 6pm, I open field gate and whistle, then all four follow me to the barn, they settle at a haynet and I take TBs rug off, check hay about 9.30, top up if needed, lights off and back to the house, weekends I give extra hay on my last check as I love my lie in on a Saturday and don't turn out till about 8.30 am

I'm usually done by about 5.30pm, yard rule in winter that Horses have to be in by 4pm. Do all my jobs in morning so at night just need to bring in. Yo checks their hay about 9pm so he anyone isn't feeding enough they can be advised. One person doesn't turn up in "morning" til 12 /1pm and the poor horse won't have hay left when I get there just before 8am!

H is usually all finished by 6:30, 7:30 at the latest.
When he was on loan I had to pull my loaner up on this subject as one time I went to visit him and she rode, mucked out, fed and finished up by 3:30! He was on rations at the time as he'd got a bit fat and he would literally have had a small nets worth of hay to last him from then until 8am!!
