I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that my Dutch Warmblood is stubborn, arguementative, and quite set in his ways, but at the same time very loyal, loving and full of character! Not to mention very handsome!!

Anyone have Concorde or Voltaire bloodlines?

I love dutch wbs! Yours sounds a bit like mine, but he's too lazy to argue ;)

I think photos are needed of your boy! Heres one of mine from today:

Nope none of those things, but he would be a lazy bugger if allowed to be.

Mine is the last foal from Stahl wijdewormer in Netherlands before they changed to Fressians, I bought him from Tom Bonner ( oh I knew Tom's background) for £895 not knowing what he was or where he came from only that he had just stepped off the lorry after days of travelling, I could see that he had 3 year olds teeth, so I knew if he was backed he would be fairly unspoilt so worth a shot, was hopping he was unbroken, which he was, they had shipped him on because no-one could get on him, after 2 years of owning him I borrowed an RSPCA friends scanner, low and behold we had a microchip and all was revealed.

Best £895 i've ever spent, I would add a zero now, to think I haggled aswell.

I have a KWPN out of Voltaire / Lancelot....

I lurve him, he is so gentle.... I have nicknamed him 'Kevin' as he is the ultimate stroppy teenager when he wants to be, ha!!

My Upsky C stable name Freedom coz thats what he got when he got me.

I really must take more pictures hes 10 next month and totally different colour.

Massive fan over here!!! I don't think I could go back to anything else.

Mine can be a stroppy, sharp, he can be lazy but regularly bucks if you smack his bottom, he naps and used to rear (we have sorted that - I think!) but then he looks stunning, he is affectionate, very clever and quick to learn, moves like a dream and brings home the rosettes for me. I wouldn't swap him for the world!!

Mine is by Elcaro.

I had a concorde bred boy until last march. He was very talented but also very argumentative with an over active imagination. I've
sold him to a competition home and so far so good, she's been loving him
I do miss him tho

Sounds just like my boy! I tried moving him to a quieter yard as thought seeing as he's 19 now, he might like some peace and quiet, but he hated it! So I moved him back to the yard where I work and he went back to being more settled within minutes. He gets bored very quickly so the nice peaceful yard which I loved, he didn't!!

I absolutely love wb's - mine can be so sweet when he wants to be, but most of the time he's a little monster :p
We spent the afternoon playing chase
here's mine:

i love wb's

have an 18 year old by Hemmingway and a 5 year old by Zyprius (grandsire Zeus) and i wouldnt swap them for the world

both have entirely different temperaments

the hemmingway boy floats across the ground, and always wants to please, never really had a falling out

the zeus boy has a stubborn attitude but bags of talent, careful and spooky, bucks if given a tap with the stick, but has a super trainable brain!

i wouldnt have any other breed after owning two wb's

Mine's by Libro and not a stubborn bone in his body. He is a scaredy cat but takes a lot of confidence from his rider and form a strong bond with people he trusts.

My boys grandsire is Concorde. He loves people and craves attention but will throw tantrums if he doesn't get it. He's also a bit of a wimp and somewhat unpredictable which is why my mum won't ride him but I love him.

My Warmblood x Appaloosa's Grandsire is Voltaire, sire is Equador who i was advised threw very chilled and laid back progeny.

Mine is a bit of a worry wort, needs to get it right or gets in a right fluster, taken a long while to get him to understand that just because he strikes off on the wrong lead does not mean we are about to throw him to the lions! My instructor was riding him today and bless you could actually see the frown lines on his face as he concentrated on what was being asked.

However once he feels he nails something no worries right cocky little bugger with elevated paces and " ha I can do this" tude.

Very loving chap and lots of character today he was left in the vicinity of my grooming box....big mistake!

Can I just ask, why are some Dutch WBs and some Belgian WBs? Only, Wings is a Belgian WB, grandsire Voltaire, sire Kannan. Why is he a Belgian and not a Dutch? Is this purely based on where they are bred?

Thanks, and sorry if I've asked a really stupid question :P

Oh, and as to the original post, Wings is very stubborn, sharp and quirky. He's by Kannan, out of Voltaire. I can't remember his dam's side. He's very talented and scopey, and has nice paces. He will work hard, eventually, but often has a hissy fit and gallops off with me if he can't be bothered to be schooled e.g whether it be a circle, or shoulder in. He's very clever, which isn't always a good thing. He's also very stallionish, and is definitely the leader of his herd. He's also very cheeky, and often refuses to catch when summer hits. He has a nice personality, he's friendly, however he can be spooked easily, and sometimes acts as though he's been treated badly before I got him. He is very bold, and often carts me into fences :p

Oooo just seen thread, very interesting! Mine has Concorde and Voltaire and I think the coloured bit will come from Samber, she is a total wuss but very kind and sweet -

This is mine -
(permission to use photo on HHO specifically requested and supplied.)
She is probably Orlando's last foal out of a TB NH bred mare, the pic was taken as a 2yr old and she has filled out a lot since then. I wouldn't describe her as stubborn - cuddly and desperate to please would be more accurate.
Her best trick is to canter up the field when I call her.

I love my DB even if he does give me a tough time. Scardy pants he is, but he does take a lot of confidence from the rider! We have a wonderful partnership and bonded well from day one (even when I didn't ride him). If you get one on side they are fabulous. Fantastic characters! :D

I'm a sucker for his big paces.
