Looking into becoming a farrier. It's something that's always interested me as I did my work exp with mine and really enjoyed it.

I have narrowed it down to 2 of the 3 colleges in which you can study at. Hereford & Ludlow College and Warwickshire College (these are closest to home for me). So my questions are;

1. Which one did people go to, why? and how was it etc?
2. How is the course set up. How much time is spent at college? College websites saying it is done in blocks but can't figure out if that is 2-4 weeks at home or at the college and how many of these blocks are there?

Knowing this is paramount for me as my mum is severely disabled and I don't like the idea of being too far away for too long. So blocks I can deal with but not really full terms away etc.

Thanks if anyone can help :)

It used to be apprenticeship based with time away at college. But its had a massive shake up, and I believe they are now doing as a college course and then work experience afterwards. Could be wrong, but i'm sure this is now happening...

From reading it looks as though first year is college based then go on to the apprenticship. Had no idea it was changing though :/ would ask my farrier but its been a while since he did his! haha
