Need some advice please.
My farrier is an absolute star and has gone above and beyond the call of duty in the care of my horse recently by coming out at all hours and generally doing his very best to try and help my laminitic horse who also has an infection in his foot. Is there anyway I can recognise this? Are there any farrier of the year awards (I know there is a vet of the year award) or can I write to the Farriers Registration Council praising him?
I would like to acknowledge him in some way, a simple thank you just doesn't seem enough in this case.

I don't know if there is anything you could do as regards rec. him in any awards, but if you want to get him something nice then maybe see if any where near you does some sort of sports massage, my boyfriends a farrier and always has a sore back!

I wonder if there is a magazine issued to registered farriers that you could write in to in the hope they would print your letter?

I have no idea if this exists but might be worth investigating...

theres a magazine called forge that most farriers recieve monthly, there is also a news letter issued from the reg council that you could possably get a wee note in? other than that i know my hubbie realy just aprechiates a thank you (you would be amazed how many people dont say it even after just a trim).
ps a box of chockies goes a long way too lol

There is a magazine called 'forge' which I believe most farriers get and also there is the farriers bulletin which comes out to all registered farriers every so often. Maybe if you wrote to the farriers reg. council and asked them to print your letter somewhere they could put it in the bulletin. Otherwise what about a special 'best farrier' rosette (can you tell i'm a rosette maker :) ) or as suggested a massage session, though time is a premium to most farriers.

ETA: feisty_filly beat me to it!

Well I know how I used to thank my farrier (ex boyfriend) ;)

But I wouldn't recommend it unless you're both single! :D

As others have said - a letter in Forge magazine would be good. Failing that a crate of beer on his next visit.

Not sure my husband or his girlfriend would be too impressed at your method of thanking mollichop!:D:D

I have bought him a few bottles of whisky in the past but am worried I am turning him into an alcoholic!
I will have a look into the Forge magazine thank you.
