Can anyone help! I urgently need DIY livery, or a stable and grazing to rent, anywhere near Tadcaster, York area, or on or near B1223 as far as Cawood.
I posted a message last week about Livery Yards from hell. If anyone didn't see it, I wrote about the awful yard I'm on. The lessee makes me provide my own fencing, which she keeps moving and breaking the posts. The grazing is awful, I am supposed to have two paddocks, but can only use one of them in Summer, (wasn't told this when I signed the contract). The other paddock is totally waterlogged, knee-deep mud (my horse has mud fever), with only weeds and no grass. Worse than this though is that the lessee keeps feeding my horse hay when I've asked her not to (we have to buy our own hay and straw), but she rudely ignores me. It's not the cost, it's just that my beloved horse is exceptionally prone to colic, and my vet has told me that I must not overfeed her with hay/haylage, as he feels another bout of colic could lead to a twisted gut and therefore ending in her death. The number of times she has had colic has meant that my Insurance Co has excluded any claims related to this illness.
I am at my wits end, I have phoned lots of local yards for new livery, put up ads etc, but have had no joy. Please, does anyone know of anywhere that has DIY livery spaces or a field and stable to rent in the areas specified (or close to).

I am about 15 miles north of York... Have you tried asking in rideaway? Or maybe ask at the local RC? Sorry, I am new to the area myself - not much help!
I hope you find something soon, there is nothing worse than being stuck on a bad yard.

Also, have you tried Naburn Grange?
Warren Farm?

Grimston Park? (Tadcaster)
Mill Lane (Selby so might be a bit far)
There's also a yard in crockey hill - can't remember the name but can find out!

I think we're full up in Grimston unfortunately, but have you tried Gillams, its on the Walton/Healaugh road out of Tad- he was quite reasonable a couple of months ago, and had about 4 boxes spare... but iv lost the number. Il try and find it for you and PM you if I have any luck.Other than that, there's a yard at South Milford but that's probably too far for you.

Croft Farm in stillingfleet? Pricey, I think but VERY nice.

Solstar - I used to live in Grimston Park! Never got my horse in the livery yard there though - was always full!

I know of a yard just out of Cawood towards selby, may have a space, but seeing as ive just forgotten the owners name, and I dont have his number i'm not much use. Altho i know a person who lives nearby, who would probably get it for me, but may not beable to get the number straight away, as my friend is a bit slow at answering txts and calls!!!!!

My friend keeps her horse at home just outside Tadcaster and usually has a livery, but no one at the moment. She has a school, excellent fields and decent hacking. Do you want me to ask her if she is looking for someone?

HI

I think Warrens have space at escrick. Crockey hill are full at the moment and so are naburn grange. (they sent someone to us last week. Brabs at elvington may have spaces you could call them. You would be best calling in at Thompsons feeds/bata for contact numbers of local yards. Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying, everyone. If you could find the phone number(s) that would be great, and send them to my messages. I have tried yellow pages, for many of the suggestions, but no luck. Also, asking a friend would be great, as I only live 3 miles from Tadcaster. To mayflower, yes I did try your yard, but no success. I really am desperate, for the sake of my horse's health!

We have 2 spaces in our DIY livery set up and are near York - we are particularly looking for some one with a 15 hand to 15.2 hand horse that would let my daughter ride in our arena occasionally - under your supervison as part of the deal cheap livery but excellent set up with arena, hacking, paddocks, field shether etc excellent grazing - can stay out all year or live in. You can tel us on 01904 488928

where are you? a friends sister is looking for livery "near" easingwold, but would be happy to go down to York for the right place.

Yes dont go to Gillams they added on and add on which is why they are empty and the wighill road is shocking to get down had my horse there for many years. Unless they are 100% bproof dont even go there plus you have the shooting which means they shoot on the land you have your horse on, its hell there in the winter.

Foss Feeds does livery I think, they are at Acaster Malbis just near Copmanthorpe. If you google their number.

Yes dont go to Gillams they added on and add on Tell me about it was there for a few years and he kept moving the goal posts in his favour changing fields charging me for fencing then changing again spent around £300 on fencing before I got wise to it we always had the same agreement when it came to what I was renting but he altered it often to suit him and his cows. Was never late with rent but 2 days before it was due(paid monthly) he used to turn the water off!!!!!! as a reminder I think. Was the best days work I did when I loaded up the lorry and left.I agree about wighill road too almost got squashed by an impatient lorry driver horse still no good in traffic 9 years on:(
