Calling all shetland owners.

Ty and Inky are done every 8 weeks. When i got Ty his last owners had only had them done twice a year. Although they werent very long they had grown in an awful shape which meant his front legs turn slightly inwards. and thus my farrier is now trying to correct this. He has said although they may not need shortening as much as larger ponies its the shape that need regular checking.

Mine has access to a concrete yard and shelter and just seems to keep them in trim. I rasp off any nicks etc myself.
Incidently, I've just aquired another shettieand Exmmor type ponio. They've not been touched farrierwise for approx 3yrs and have nice tidy little feet. Am not condoning leaving their feet for 3yrs BTW but was surprised at how tidy and neat their feet were...

Archie varies, my farrier checks him when he does my big ones every 6 or so weeks, but he hasn't been trimmed for about 16 weeks this time, I thik it's because, due to having one on box rest he's had a small paddock fenced off just outside the barn and wanders along the concrete aisle quite a bit on 'companion' duties....
