Hi there if any one could advise i could really do with some input. I have been off the show scene for a while now so im a little out of the picture. I have sourced the most gorgeous Irish Draught gelding who is perfect in confirmation a looks the part. I am tempted to purchase him he had an injury when he was younger which has left him with a scar about three inches long above the coronet band on his near fore. How much of a problem would this be if i wanted to show him , i know judges look for a blemish free horse, but would this be a complete no go or could he he be shown with this scar?????????????????????

Without seeing it, I would think you may get away with local level showing, but I doubt any higher than that....

He sounds lovely tho, depends what level you want to show at really....

For working hunter it would be ok but otherwise it is a no at county level and above. Unless you can disguise it.

If it came down to it in the final line up and it was between you and another horse and the other horse was blemish free then the other horse would probably get it, However showing is all on opinion and if the judge felt your horse was a better horse despite the blemish then they should place you!
Is the blemish coverable at all? i.e with chalk or shoe polish etc ??

If the horse is everything you want and the blemish is the only thing stopping you then buy it.
