HELP!!

My coloured mare Flo is the dirtiest little mare i've ever come across  which means i am forever washing her legs. At the moment she has yellow knees and yellow hocks, not very attractive.

So can anyone recommend a VERY good shampoo that gets rid of the dirtiest of dirt staines lol!

Em :D

Cowboy magic green spot remover is fab for daily spot washing.mimuse it with baby wipes and a clean, dry micro fibre cloth.

Tresemme - the deep green one (you won't use it on your own hair when you see how it strips the muck off horse tails!)

does anyone hae any magic tips on getting rid of yellow in tails? Its fading slowly with weekly washing but would love a magic cure!

Washing up liquid is the best thing I've tried! Sick of spending tons & still getting crap results, so now I use the washing up liquid & then in an emergency use white spray on hair colour (from boots) to cover up any last minute mucky bits!

With regards to the tail mine went from this

with the aid of Persil Acti-lift, it works at low temps but I tend to get hot water out of the kettle, cover the tail in Acti-lift or similar and dip the tail into that up to but obviously not the dock for 5 minutes or so. Then being careful not to scold his legs get another bucket of warm water (usually have it nearby) and start to massage the washing liquid out. When putting the detergent in rub it well in. I will repeat if necessary.
The above horse has not been washed since November and I only hot towelled him after he was clipped and washed his tail.

Im another one of generally using washing up liquid on stains (HAS to be fairy though)

Might give the persil acti lift a try on autumns tail though - we tried vanish on the bottom of it with not much success apart from me getting red raw hands!

Not used persil spray as a rinse but do use supreme products version of 'dolly blue' in the final rinsing water - not much good for tails but FAB on the body as long as you dont use too much and end up with a blue tinge - have made that mistake before!

I found from working in a highly rated international eventers yard that the best thing to use is fairy liquid - but HAS to be the blue stuff. We used to have 4 or 5 grey horses and it worked an absolute treat!

I have recently come across something called Bioflog clay which is basically 100% natural white clay for poulticing, I put some on the sides of my horse's face for the night and in the morning I just brush off the excess and voila! beautiful grey horse in no time :)

Milton works well on white tails

just mix in bucket with warm water and soak tail for a few mins be careful not to get on the dock and rinse really well after

we also have used soap flakes when we have run out of milton this also works well but make sure they dissolve first

as for yellow stains on knees , hocks we use houshold soap (the green bar one) again rinse well after use

I use copious amounts of Carr, Day and Martin Stain removing shampoo. I soak the tail first in lots of cold water, then wash it twice using the stain remover. Once it's dry, it is usually pretty white. At shows, I touch up with some simple chalk powder!

As a tip...on white tails, use main and tail conditioner EVERY day....stops the muck from sticking!!
