I have my lush new saddle today, now how does this over girth thing work ?>

Just do it up, just doesn't need to be super tight as only used to hold the saddle flap tidy. TBH I don't really see the point of it!

Well at least that is what I've always done, probably found out it has some secret use and I've been doing it wrong all these years

The overgirth does just tie up to keep the flap tidy as far as i know. Some people cut them off though

I did not have the money for a new one, but i sold me old GP and OH has but money up as well, so i could buy a new one !

Yup, either cut the damn useless thing off, or if you want to keep the saddle in pristine condition then do it up "to keep the saddle flaps still" (and just why wouldn't they stay still??!). Don't do it too loose though, my friend has one and if I do it too loose it slips off the girth and rubs the horse. And they're a pain to do up once on (worse than girth). Oh sod it just cut it off!!

I'm still trying to replace the Isabel I sold months ago but the saddler is struggling to find something to fit

He took 6 weeks to find me a GP and last night delivered a Jeffries Falcon dressage saddle

It looks immaculate and worth a very hefty price tag that I can never afford

He was hoping to get us an Ideal Jessica but that never materialised.
I wish the Isabel had fitted

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh but its not as nice as my GP

I've only got the Wintec Pro but that has the same strap thingy - with the lighter synthetic saddle it does stop the flap 'rucking up' if you bobble about a bit !! However I find it a pain if I need to tighten the girth once I am onboard... Have left mine on however.

I have one of these and although it is lovely and comfortable and I feel secure in trot it tips me forward so much I have difficulty riding in it. Anyone else have this problem?

Ive just bought a 2nd hand one for my youngster and it had been cut off. TBH if it was on there I would have cut it off too!!
