I have been a mum now for coming up to 5 years but even though I have made some great friends not many of them either understand or like my love for my horse and dogs. Many of their children are petrified of any animal whatever the size and I do find this a problem when inviting anyone over to my house (I would like to point out here that I NEVER let my dogs out to run round if any of them ever do come round as I feel that it is only polite to keep them away till the mum mentions letting the dogs meet the children, I would never force my dogs or like for animals on anyone). I am a very social person and find I alway end up being the one going to peoples house and not mine.
As I have my horse in a private yard I dont get to meet people as I would if I was in a livery yard so again all my friends who dont know about horses get highly confused when I explain that I have to go a muck out or ride even if its freezing/chucking it down with rain or snow or if I am feeling ill (I had a rotten pregnancy and ended up having all day sickness for 9 months and a broken foot
and I spent most of the 9 months explaining my life away trying to explain that animals are a responsibility that you have to do!)
It would just be lovely to meet other like minded mums to meet up, walk dogs and even ride with. Or if not reassurance that there are others out there like me somewhere
