calling those who run equestrian businesses or know about them

Random post I know but am doing some research on it. What legislations need to be thought about in the running of an equine business, so far I've come up with health and safety and insurance. What others are there? I mean obviously it depends on the business but am looking for general things here. Thanks if you can help

If the business is a hacking/riding centre:
licensing if using horses for hacking/lessons etc. Most if not all riding establishments need a license.


risk assessments, h&s manuals, fire risk docs, rider assessment forms, horse assessment forms, fire procedures, lots of stuff!

If you are a limited company then you are subject to the Companies Act 2006. Law rather than legislation.

However insurance is vital - inventory cover, product cover, public liability.

Depending on the type of business, Contract Law will often play some part, but is often overlooked (I know some semi-professional dealers who had no idea that a verbal agreement to sell amounts to a contract and can bind in law); Land law could have an impact (rights of way over your land / other peoples which you may use (e.g. bridleways)); and Tort law (not just personal injury by legitimate users of your business, but also your responsibility to trespassers on your fields etc.)
