Calmer for TB?

Hi i use equistro equilizer which i have found is the best!!! does he sweat a lot and get himself stressed? if so he could be magnesium deficient in which case a magnesium powder would work xx

Hi, he is just quite spooky and extremely alert, rather then curious. One day he is dozy and half asleep and the next he is on full alert, spooky and into everything. He doesn't sweat up etc but at his worst he weaves/ box walks (he's out 10-12 hours a day).
I have found he is quite sensitive with his food etc and I have had him for 3 months now. Even with the change of grass he has had very running droppings for weeks which had finally settled so I need something that isn't going to upset his stomach.

I've heard magnesium can have a worse affect on them?

Equifeast if money no object, they are extremely knowledgeable and will tweek the calmer for your horse.

Dried hops if on a budget, worth a try - also maybe try adding salt to his diet.

Yes, I would would think that you need to look at his diet carefully, and though the grass will vary a lot, you want to give him a good feed when housed so that his main diet is stable: high in fibre, lo in sugar. Use oil if you need energy, I like micronised linseed, it is good for digestion, for skin, hooves etc.
Do you give him a feed before turnout, it is not good if he has been standing with no hay for hours then gets no breakfast. That is what you must avoid at all costs.
I like non molassed feeds like Fast Fibre or Quick beet, these provide a good base and are plain. I like Feedmark Steady up [magnesium based calmer] others feed NAF pink powder, but I think the NAF products tend to be expensive for what you get. It is too easy to go down the supplement route, but you must start with a good plain diet and remember horses are designed to wander about grazing on poor pastures for 16 hours per day, as soon as we start managing them, we need to make sure we are not preventing their natural systems working properly.
I hate to see a horse box walking, I would turn him out, I assume he has company?

After trying lots of different ones at a huge cost ! I have found valerian cordial made by Lincoln and is approx £6.50 a bottle BARGAIN !

It is banned under FEI rules though so if you intend doing any competing I'd check

Works brilliant on my 35 year old who thinks he is 3 and is currently on box rest and I am able to walk out in hand which I couldn't before on other calmers when he's been on box rest previously
