I have the freezemarking woman coming on Wednesday at 9:30am, so I need to give my 3 years old a calmer paste 2 hours before? I've never used one before, could anyone recommend one to me?
Ive just been told to give her a calmer to 'relax' her, although I did suggest having her sedated but the company said they doubt she'd need to be sedated
I find it hard to believe that a calmer would make any difference in case of freeze marking, but hey ho.
There is one I have experience with, it's called Equiform Nutrition Tranquil or Tranquil extra.
Well if a calmers not going to make a difference then I wont waste my money then, she is usually ok but if she is in a particular mood then she can be stubborn! If she is a git and doesnt allow her to freezemark her then i can always arrange it another time and have her sedated by the vet??
If you want to take an edge off her, you could maybe go for a sedative paste, like Sedalin or Sedazine or ACP tablets, you will have to buy them at the vets and they will be able to advise you on dosage.
With Sedalin, depending on individual horse, I give between 3 and 6 ml for clipping for example.
