I've managed the last few years clipping my horse, so although i'm not desperate to find an 'instant' calmer it would be greatly beneficial to the both of us and save my mare some stress! If anyone can help!
She has a full clip (legs on), and unless I really needed to I wouldn't clip her. She's a fresian X thoroughbred but gets very fluffy!
I can clip her body and neck fine and the underside of her face, she's a little stressed but lets me do it no bother. Her face/ears/legs(I take her feather off) are a different story!
I usually twitch her.. but she's now learnt that when i've done her body the twitch is coming and she is getting harder to be twitched.I've tried doing her face first but she's a smart one! However, once it's on she's knocked out.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried an instant calmer for clipping and if any work? Even just to take the edge off and some stress away would be fab.
I don't want to get the vet to come and sedate her as that's more stressy for her than clipping itself is.. she's a rescue and is still very nervous of strangers- especially the scary vets!
