I've been using magnitude for about 2 months now, in the first couple of weeks he was a bit calmer and now i don't think its working, he has started stressing again, gradually getting worse in the past 5 weeks any sugestions or products i could try? x
 
Used it with my previous mare..no use in the slightest.

According to my nutritionist theres not one calmer on the market that works!!

She says the only sure fire way is Turnout,Grass and Work.
 
Calmer is magnesium based..horses make their own if the grass they are on is decent.

If your horse isnt turned out lots then a magnesium substitute may help...otherwise there is no point.
 
I use pure magnesium powder as the vet said it was the best to try... £4 for a £4 kilo bag, 20g a day and within 10 days I had a huge improvement in my horse. Stopped most of the pacing, the refusing to stand still etc.

My boy has always been on magic and is a different horse.

Everyone on here say waste money buy magnesium instead cheaper etc.


But it depends on if horse is lacking in magnesium , if they are not it has the reverse effect.

Buying magnesium was a waste of money it has made no difference to calming in fact he is worst on it I will bin what i have . Go buy magic again
 
Agree with Leviathan, magnesium only works if your horse has a deficiency.

What are you feeding him? Have you tried cutting out all sugars and cereals from his diet? Some horses react badly to alfa based feeds, can send them a bit over the top.

I have heard that a calcium deficiency can cause stressy and unpredictable behaviour, so it might be worth testing for this if you are struggling to find an answer.

He was on happy hoof for the last 2 years as he is prone to lami, tried relax me in the past with an avail, he's give 1scoop of happy hoof, garlic, alb hay, i've just changed his feed to dengie Healthy Tummy 2 days ago.
i have not long had bloods done as wanted to investigate further, came back borderline cushings, he's 11 native cob x sec D but lightweight no heavy type, i might ask for the calcium to be tested x
