Basically says it all in the title :)
I have a big chestnut mare who get very anxious when leaving her field. She is currently on a molasses free chaff and a camling balancer.
I've recently read about "moody cow" by readsup and wondered if anyone had used that one ?
Or could anyone recommend effective calmers?

Ceva have made a gel called Confidence EQ.
Its quite an interesting product, fairly new.
After a trial, I have bought a box of 10 sachets for around £40.
If it works as well as in the trial, it will be money well spent.

I've heard these; what are they like? And when do you use them?

They come in a box of ten for around £40 for the box.
Follow the instructions, (see the website). Very helpful with loading a bright young mare, although there are many reasons when you may want to use.
Really easy to apply. Dead important the gel is applied to the insides of the nostrils BEFORE the situation arises and lasts for approx 2 hours. Update tomorrow when using again.

Just keep in mind there are two kinds of calmers (in my experience) those based on herbs and those based on magnesium. Some horses are affected by one type but not the other. Various magnesium calmers had no effect on my horse whatsoever but herbal calmers did so I just experimented with herbal calmers until I found the one that suited him best.
