Calmers for competing

What is the best calmer to use. Took horse to a show yesterday and he was far to giddy and was too strong as was tense. So just need something to take the edge of him.

He is a forward horse anyway so I expected to be rather excitable but in an ideal world a bit of the edge of will be nicer for us both. Although can't say he didn't enjoy himself haha.

I think Zylkene is still competition legal but you may want to check what you're feeding in general.

Nupafeed is a magnesium calmer that's comp legal.
I've used the syringes before on the odd occasion and they seemed to work.

He's a forward horse without feed. Just need something to take the edge of him at riding club shows. He's fine jumping he's so chilled it's just in a show class.

I used one of those naf magic shots and it worked but then again it could have just been me imagining it was working!

I use the NAF Magic supplement daily in my horses feed and use the shots for extra calming on event days. I think its pretty good

I've found Equine America ones are good, I think I used Supercalm. You get three separate doses in one syringe, so it's quick and easy to give too as the amount per dose is less.

I used NAF Instant Magic just before clipping, and i think it worked well.

I've had good results using Oxyshot to take the edge off a Welsh D at competitions - although I tried it on friend's Welsh B before a pleasure ride and it made zero difference! I think you generally have to try a few different types and see what works for your horse.

I had good results with NAF Instant Magic, but the daily stuff sent my horse nuts...

Thank you everyone I will have to try a couple mentioned above and see what suits us. Will be a lot easier when can go back in the fields again as that will help but he still needs a calmer to keep him relaxed.
