What calmer/supplement does anyone recommend for a filly who is very hormonal when she is in season. She is so sweet the rest of the time but when she is on season she squeals, kicks the stable or lorry and is generally cussed.
Any suggestions as want to start her on something before the show season starts

I used to have a mare who was a nightmare when in season, i couldn't do a thing with her. I tried many things and then put her on Stroppy Mare suppliment and it worked a treat, a lot better than the more expensive one's!

I use NAF Oestress and this works well for my mare. £19 for 500g or £32 for 1kilo. It definitely makes a difference with her.

I've tried all sorts with my mare - and have ended up giving her Regumate from Spring to late autumn, and NAF Oestress through the winter.

Tried the herbal supplements, but they were just not man enough for the job during the spring and summer!

Have also tried having a marble implanted - whilst they are supposed to have good results, it really only just knocked the edge of the worst of the strops!! One minute lovely, the next horrific!!

Can't sing the praises of Regumate highly enough though - other than the fact it is expensive, and you have to watch getting it on yourself, it has revolutionised my mare's life and means I no longer have to issue cautions to anyone dealing with her!

The hormone strops may be a thing your mare 'grows out' of? My older mare needed one season on Regumate, then was fine for evermore - hoping the other one will follow course..... :-)

Good luck!
