Sorry to post about this again.
But I am going to get my boy some calmer this week and not sure what the best one for his temprement will be.
He is like a puppy on the yard and brilliant to handle, its just that he's young and when ridden can get abit uptight.
I hear Top spec calmer is good for this?
Opinions please

Hi. I posted about this recently and was recommended Supercalm by global herbs so have just ordered some online. Obviously what works for one horse may not work for another so it may be a case of trying a couple. The one i ordered says you should start to see a difference in 2-3 days.(wonder if it works on children!!!!!!!!) After a bit of research it would seem that a magnesium based one would be the best way to start and i believe Top Spec is such.

I've tried Nupafeed and Topspec calmers on one of my horses who is a stresshead, and neither made any difference. But some people swear by them.

The only think that works with him is lots of work and turnout.

My young horse went through a 'fresh' phase recently, and I adjusted his feed (took him off alfalfa and on to a straw/alfa como, cut back on the nuts and sugar beet and upped the forage) and he's back to normal again.

I can recommend feel good 30 Science Formula Calming is a magnesuim based calmer works really well, I have used this on a couple of horses with fantastic results

I have just bought the topspec calmer-as it is magnesium based but also contains L-trytophan. My boy sounds exactly like yours-brilliant to handle but anxious when ridden. I will let you know if i see any difference

i had our tb pony on top spec it was brilliant. you need to build it up for a week or so and if you are going to compete give them a double dose in the morning. its totally harmless

the global herbs supercalm does work very well. They do two different calmers so might be worthwhile ringing stephen ashdown to check it out. I use the supercalm instants. They are sachets which work in a just over an hour. Brilliant for shoeing etc. I have even used them on a very nervous traveller and it reduced the nervousness.
