i know for a fact she is going to be crazy, but i am determined, and we are going out wether she likes it or not. shes going nuts being in so i am going to be brave and ride her.

now i don't know anything about calmers, would this possibly help her keep a level head?? i'm just curious

thanks in advance

yes some of them would but its kind of 50/50 some work with some horses more than others please note they are a quick term answer and not a long term solution xx

umm, right, if you already know you're going to have problems, can you minimise them in other ways? can you just do roadwork because tarmac is a lot less exciting than grass underfoot? can you lunge first to take the edge off the mare?
i'd talk to your vet about calmers, tbh. i have used sedalin a few times very successfully but never for ridden work, just to lead lunatic 2 yr olds back to the field after box rest etc. i think a lot of calmers just take a bit of edge off, and if she's going to be "crazy", might not be enough. would she be better with someone on foot rather than another horse which might get set off by her antics? can you ride her in a school/corner of a field first to see how she is? just trying to think of ways to minimise the craziness!
hope she's a good girl anyway, sometimes they can surprise you (in a good way!)

i use blue chip Karma its fab takes the edge right off my mare and not only can you give it in the feed you can give it by syringe and hour before 'the event'. but id give her a good dose in a feed and then wait an hour and ride see how it goes.
