Calmers

Forgiv me I am new to this! Just wondered if anyone could recommend a calmer or supplement for my incredibly spooky horse - i have tried a few but wondered if I was barking up the wrong tree? He lacks confidence mainly hacking and is better in the school. Thanks for any suggestions.

My horse lacks confidence, is very spooky, and gets a major stresshead on and I use NAF Magic and it has worked wonders! I suggest getting the liquid kind though if your horse is a fussy eater like mine!

Magnesium is what is in most of the calmers and can be bought for a fraction of the price x

NAF Magic, great on my boy, has made a massive difference to him and he is much less stressed in general.
Be carefull with using straight mag sulfate (epsom salts) as i was using this and my vet said definatly not, as its a laxative and very bad for the gut long term!

Equine Magnitude is a nice cheap one to try - £18.99 for 6 months supply!

Nupafeed gets excellent results but is also very expensive

I've tried numerous calmers, and it seems what works for one horse, doesn't work for another, so it really is trial and error!

The one I've had the best result with is Top Spec Calmer- my mare is still forward going and interested in her surroundings, but doesn't launch into orbit at everything and anything like she used to!
