Calmers

Hi all

Just wondering what calmers people use? My horse is generally very good but has anxiety which causes him to be spooky, it doesn't bother me at all but would like to make him feel less anxious about life!

Any suggestions? I have just emailed V-Calm to see what they say.

I use Equistro Equaliser (available on-line) as my lad can get tense. This seems to help him concentrate and relax without loosing performance.

i use horse first - relax me

Tried:
V calm - good results
Horse First relax me - no effect, made worse
Straight valerian cordial - good but irritable when it started to wear off after longer use
Zylkene - excellent but expensive, chilled horse and okay when off it
Pure mag ox - made worse

Well if your horse was a mare I would reccomend oetress.
Used Magic a few years ago and didn't notice any difference.

I have tried magic, not sure it really made much difference maybe a little.
Also tried Wendals herbs Calmer which has valerian in it and that didn't seem to help at all.
I haven't used it myself but have heard good things about the nupafeed calmer, supposedly quite expensive but may be worth a try.

I use Magic when we first start playing early on in the season. On one pony is makes a visible difference but on the others I can't really say it does anything!
