Calmers

I just bought the topspec clamer today but not sure how well it works- i think it depends on the horse, each calmer is different and one will work for one horse and not the other horse. I have used NAF magic which you can use long term and i did not feel that worked. I have heard good things about the feedmark calming supplement so that maybe worth a try.

We have 2 on temprelax by NAF and its great stuff, combined wtih Nupafeed it becomes even greater and if we add some so kalm too we even get a dressage test out of one of them!!!

We bought Nupafeed for our mare and after a month (rather than the week as advised) on loading dose there is no difference at all. Topspec rep we spoke to at an event said Nupafeed won't work if you already feed ad lib hay as they should get as much magnesium as they can absorb from the hay...?

I found that NAF Magic worked last year on a horse that even spooked at his own poo in the school (think the spring grass played havoc with his head!!), haven't had to use it yet this year (lets hope it stays that way!!).

Ive been using nupafeed since novemberish and have found it a godsend. I did get told that it may not work though. I think its individual to each horse. I tried out calm and condition for a while which was ok until he stopped eating it, steady up is quite good also. I found with derek before the nupafeed I could literally feed him dengie and carrots without him blowing his brains. We have now started to introduce economy cubes again and I have had to kick him since starting nupafeed. He is so chilled to the point I now ride on the flat in spurs. It hasnt cured him completely. He still things the air will kill him on a hack sometimes whilst the flappy black plastic is fine. I would defo recommend nupafeed though as you can play around with it to find your ideal dose. Blue chip has just brought out a calmer though, might be worth a go. Good luck

I use NAF magic and it made a hell of a difference in days. I've heard that 'so calm' from equine america (think it's them) is also very good. Also equimins do a syringe paste that you administer 2 hours before the class called Serenity about £12 a tube which i've got but am yet to try.
I have also bought topspec and am waiting to run out of magic to try it. The magic seemed to be wearing off after 5 -6 weeks on it (that might just be me!)

That is the only place you can get it. They dont sell to stockists just direct, and you cant order online. you call them up and they go through your horses details etc and why you want to use a calmer. They then tell you the loading dose and how much they recommend you try after this. Really lovely people and so helpful. Its not cheap £27 for a litre bottle and £5 postage but its worth it. My first bottle went quick because of the loading but my last bottle lasted me months. Ive just bought a 5litre tub which should last me till the end of the summer! much more of a bargain. good luck
