I've got a horse on box rest due to him fracturing his long pastern bone. Hes been on box rest now for 14 weeks and hes getting bored now, hes only 6 and is only allowed out for 10minutes a day to walk in hand but has to come straight back in if he gets silly.

I'm really struggling to keep him calm tho, which is understandable. However hes started bucking in his stable recently and on a broken leg its not ideal. Is there anything anyone could suggest or has used in a similar situation to take the edge off him?

sedalin . speak to your vet for advive. i know its a total nightmare and no wonder they get frustrated. how much longer do you have to go?

He'll hopefully have the bandage off in 3 weeks so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for not to much longer. The whole joint has been pinned so really its a case of it just healing now which seems to be going really well at the moment.

Can you feed sedalin every day tho?

had similar prob with the bucking - smaller challenge tho' as mare had chipped stifle. BUT we made a top door in the opposite wall, so she could see out 2 ways and that gave her more to look at and kept her relativley calmer, tried time her hay to be given when horses went out for day - i know this may not be possible (either option) but it helped us.
