Hi , I am after people’s thoughts on the use of calming cookies . I have always used the premier performance cookies however, due to not being able to get them I recently used the Equine Exceed ones instead . My horse has become really silly to turn out (she has recently been on box rest so I needed something to help us adjust to turning out again) could it be the cookies having an adverse effect?? The ingredients are pretty similar in both but I am wondering if the change has caused the excitability. I have stopped all use now and will see if it changes anything . I did also have her in So Kalm ( whilst on confinement) however I have already stopped this as it contained alfalfa which I know does not agree with her . She is usually mannerly and in a good routine but this is a complete change .

Magnesium may be key - too much or too little is an issue, and levels in grazing can fluctuate. I'm not familiar with products in this area but if they are relying on magnesium this may be the cause.

The active is zinc and high levels of zinc would be more likely to cause magnesium deficiency than overload. But they've also got molasses and l tyrosine which can cause anxiety in high doses.
