We're planning on entering our first affiliated BE80 at the end of July. Calmdsen and Chilham Castle are on the same date and both a similar distance from us, so it basically comes down to preference.

Horse is relatively new to eventing - we've had him a year and entered one unaffiliated event last year which was a full up track around the usual affiliated BE80 course at Tweseldown. We didn't achieve brilliant results, but he loved every minute and has all the elements - I just need to learn to pilot him! Now he's taken the time to settle in and we've got to know him, we've stepped up the preparations massively this year, and are having plenty of lessons - so looking to be more competitive.

I've heard both tracks are hilly, but he's an ex-racer and very fit. Also if one is commonly over subscribed, we're on a day ticket so may have to pick the less popular option!

Has anyone been to both and have a preference? All advice and experience welcomed!
