Camber Sands - what's the parking like these days?

For horseboxes and trailers!

Used to ride there ever New Years Day, but haven't been for a few years.

Are lorries and trailers still allowed in the car park?

I've heard rumblings that the cafe there and the parking wardens weren't happy about horseboxes taking up all the room, and messy people leaving droppings everywhere

Are we still allowed to park in that Council Owned car park on the road to Lydd?

If not, anyone know where else we can go?

Pretty good when I went in October - although we went mid-week when the kids were still at school - so off-peak. If you go at this sort of time, there is ample parking there. Loved it down there!

you have to use the central carpark or alternatively a few boxes often park up alongside the main road by the other carpark towards the Rye end.You couldn't get a lorry into the one on the Lydd road as it has barriers on top of it,not to mention the fact it is all shingle and cars have been known to get stuck,let alone a lorry. I haven't ridden there myself lately but there are always loads of boxes there on a nice day.The council are quite happy for you to use the central car park with the cafe,which is still there. I know in summer when you are only allowed on the beach in the evenings the council like you to notify them that you are coming so as someone can be there to check that the gates don't get locked.If you look on Rother district councils website you will find out all about taking horses to Camber beach.

Did the car park have a barrier set a 6ft 6" or something? Friend said there was one when she went down last year, so she couldn't get her lorry in.

She went on a weekend though... maybe that makes a difference

I’m going there on Saturday with my RC, can't wait, it's such fun. Went a few times last year and had no problems with parking. We parked in the car park with the café, the height barrier was opened. You did have to pay for parking though.
 
Not that I recall - I have a bateson trailer & don't remember any restrictions - though you might be right about it being set on peak. I just don't remember any sort of barrier at all. This is the main car park where the shops and the coastal officer is.
 
I don't know whether I'm in the correct car park then!

The one we used to go in had an amusement arcade on the left, a cafe (used to be called 'KitKat' I think) and the public loos on the right had side.

Was tarmaced, but with a thin sand drift coating!

I think it was pay and display the last time we went!!
 
Same one Madhossy! You drive in, then if you completely turn around to the right so you face where you came in, the public loos are in front of you!
 
That's the right one madhossy, with the loos. We've never had a problem parking. It's only horse riders and dog walkers at this time of year.
 
i was down there today in the sunshine with the dog and it was pay and display and no barrier. however, having been on boxing day most years, its best to go early as it now gets very crowded. cafe was closed today (friday) but it has always been open on weekends. hope you have a good time and the weather is as good as it was today.
 
I was there last week, it is lovely, the main car park (with the loos) is still ok to use, but remember to pay as you will get a £80 parking fine ... like I did last year

Also check the tide is out, much better riding and loads of room!

The weekends are busy if it is a nice day/low tide and can be difficult to park sometimes as the car park gets full.
