hi
i am in the process of a hefty move, which will eventually end with me be located in cambridge with my own yard and my horses outside my back door!! yay
grin.gif

problem i have is i need to be no more than 1hr (1.5 hrs at a push) from stanstead airport as i work as cabin crew.
the estate agents have given me some places matching my criteria but i wanted to ask you guys if you could tell me of any villages/ places i should look?
i want to ask people that truthfully know what the traffic is like in the mornings and what the area is REALLY like, rather than rely on estate agent spiel!!

thanks guys

Wheareabouts in Cambridge are you looking? Assume outside the town itself? Traffic into & out of the town is horrendous from all directions at rush hour times. Also bad at peak times is the road to Linton/Haverhill from the A11.
I live just outside a village called Stapleford - SE of Cambridge. Can get to the Stansted turnoff of the M11 in 20 mins. I'm not too good on areas north of Cambridge but could probably tell you a bit more about the S side if you let me know roughly where you are looking.

I drive to Ely in Cambridgeshire regularly at rush hour... the a14 around the cambridge junctions is an absolute nightmare... a 2 hour journey can literally take 4 hours. I personally would not want to use it daily. not from cambridge but from my experience that particular road is a pain in the bum

A14 from Peterborough direction has been having traffic reports for north of Cambridge of 40 mins delays every day this week - normally about 20 mins

I think you'd be best looking over the other side of the airport in Essex TBH.

The new A120 bypass has made it really easy to get to Stansted from that side, whereas the M11 and the A120 on the Herts side is all a little difficult a lot of the time.

How about around Colchester/Dunmow sort of way?

I live in Ely and it takes me about 20 minutes to get to the M11 and another 20 minutes or so on the M11 but to be completely honest the A14 leading to and from M11 is 95% of the time a nightmare!!!!!!!!! PM me if you want anymore details

I live in Gamlingay & worked in Romford for a year, so I was up & down the M11 every day from jn 12 to jn 6. Stanstead is jn 8, & tbh the M11 is about a million times better than the A1. I seldom had probs, but I was on it around 6.30 to 6.45 ish (am) & off around 7.15 ish.

I've got a 3 bed house with 2.5 acres & stables. The odd one comes up every month or 2 in Potton or Sandy. Try looking on www.eaequestrian.co.uk or the rural scene website.
