So, after the last two days have gone so well I decided today to try and sit on him and walk a bit with someone at his head.
In fairness to him, he was brilliant. Lunged, long-reined, laid on him, laid and walked. Usual process and he took to it like a star. Came back to the mounting block and sat on him. He wasn't bothered. Got on and off a few times and he stood completely unphased by the whole experience. Took a step forward and he still wasn't bothered so went for a little walk around the school.
Got right the way around and he still wasnt bothered. Back to the block and I went to get off just as a mare in the field next to the school caught his attention and messed around by the fence. Cue a bucking bronco impression followed by me doing a flying impression!
Took him back to the block and went back a step to just laying on him (facing away from the mare!) did that a few times and called it a day.
To be fair, he took to me laying on him as he had at the start of the session so didn't seem overly bothered by the experience.
We just need to go back a step and there is always tomorrow
