im thinking of getting a new camera, probably a dslr type thing mainly to take photos of horses etc
ive had a look and the canon eo2 1100d looks good, anybody got one?
any other reccomendations im looking to spend up to about £500
thanks

Canon makes good DSLRs so should be fine, but what exactly are you shooting?
Horses standing out at grass or action shots of riders in the arena doing jumps?

It does make a difference, but mostly in what type of lenses you need.

I've got the EOS 1100D :). Fantastic beginner DSLR! It came as standard with an 18-55mm lens... Which isn't too bad! Not much zoom power with that though. I also bought a 70-300mm telefoto lens with it and I personally think it is worth investing in something like that to make the most of your camera body! Don't be afraid to buy "non-canon" lenses... They are generally cheaper and not too much different quality wise... My telefoto is Tamron! Your best bet is to go to a specialist camera store... They'll be able to point you in the right direction and you can get a 'feel' for the camera :). Happy shopping!!!

I can recommend my sony alpha :) I use it mainly with a 55-200mm when shooting horses.

I'm really into photography, especially horses! I got my first dslr last year and it is a nikon d3100 & came with the standard 18-55mm lens. I bought a 55-200mm lens which i mostly use now :)

Check out the panasonic lumix. Fantastic camera , i'ts not an slr but has some good features ( 2.8 aperature ) is better than some slr's . Takes cracking pictures. Easy to navigate. Worth learning about f stops and shutter speeds if you're going to get one instead of just using auto intelligence. I take mostly outdoor, horses, scenery ,hubby races cars for a hobby so good all round camera. Very happy with it and i don't feel the need to get an slr. Have fun good luck !

thanks everyone, i want to shoot more action shot type photos like xc and p2p etc so whatkind of lenses would you reccomend?
