Or if campsites don't wanthorseboxes, look at local riding schools. We stayed overnight at a riding school few miles from Burghley a couple of years ago when we were doing a class on the Sunday and parked in their field. Cannot remember the name unfortunately.

I don't know what the problem is with Burghley not allowing horseboxes in the caravan park there. Bramham allow it. Are they too posh me thinks??

The caravan park is on the golf course. Not convinced that 7.5t + lorries driving across it and parking up, sinking into the fairways would go down awfully well.
Was it Grange Farm at Wittering that you stayed at? No longer a riding school, but is still a livery/competition/Jump X yard. Run by Robin and Diane Dunlop.
Vetsbestfriend - could have been. It had a long driveway and a pond and was very near the back of an airbase possibly RAF Wittering - other half was quite hopeful of seeing the harrier jumpjets!
Pedilia - They still might allow camping there, worth giving them a ring. If you can't find a web site for Grange Farm, look up Jump X and then ring the number for the head office which is at Grange Farm, should be an 01780 number. Alternatively there is a camp site at Ferry Meadows (Nene Park) in Peterborough, about a 20 minute drive from Burghley, straight up the A1.
