Hi,
Can anyone recommend any campsites near Burghley? I have found a few but they all seem to be miles away. Preferably with electric and showers but if there is no electricity we will live! As close to Burghley as possible.....

Thanks! :)

I live very near to Burghley and there are a few campsites around, i would just google, campsites near Stamford but if your not sure how far away anything is just PM me! A lot of people rent out spare rooms, etc. too so thats always an option to look at.

We stayed at Sacrewell Farm last year near stamford.. it was ok, showers and electric etc... and a farm that you can walk round id stay again but only for a couple of nights.

We stay at Tarrington Lakes, or something along those lines. It's nice enough, although we don't really spend any time there!

Ive just looked at their website and it looks good.
Other I have found include:-
Rutland camping and caravaning
Roadend farm (looks nice and quiet)
Yarwell Mill
Winghall
The Deepings

Any other experiences? Good or Bad (can always PM me :) )

The roads in are terrible for the event, so if you aren't on the golf course site on the estate itself, it can be difficult. Most traffic comes in from the A1, so coming in from the south/east small roads is a huge advantage.

I think we visited Rutland but not sure id just had foot surgery when i went so was hazy on painkillers i spent most of my time in tent while my hubby took my daughter to the horse show (gutted)

Kids would love sacrewell as there are loads of activities on and things to do and its free entry if your camping! Nice cafe and gift shop too!!

I dont remember it been to far from the horse trials probably not more than a few minutes drive.

Also the staff at Sacrewell were fab, they had been told in advance id had quite recent surgery and our car broke down on way so we rang to say we would be late, when we checked i was whisked off to cafe and given tea and cake and a young farm hand helped hubby with tent.

Tallington lakes is nice with decent shower and toilet facilities , the area we stayed in was sectioned by little hedge rows so felt quite secluded with the car and tent put in the right places.

Thanks everyone, we shall definitely have a look at all of the ones suggested - better to go on a recommendation than turn up and it not be what you expected! I guess it will also depend on the availability as im sure lots will be getting full quite soon!
