Camping with a caravan at Chatsworth?

Hello! Has anyone camped at Chatsworth with a caravan before? There is little to no information on the website, just how to book and pay! Maybe you get all the info once you’ve committed but I’d like to know some info up front!! I’ve googled lots of different things but I’m still struggling to find any info!

Is it worth it? (Quite expensive for 3 nights compared to a standard caravan camping holiday!). I’m thinking yes, husband less convinced!!!

Whereabouts is the campsite? Just in the grounds? How far from the hub of the event? I can’t find a map or pitch information. Is it grass or hard standing?

Are there shower facilities? What are these like?
There is electric hook up and I assume there is water available? Grey waste? Chemical toilet disposal??

Also, how pushchair friendly is the site/event in general? I’m guessing it depends on how much rain we’ve had!

Sorry for all the questions but grateful for any help anyone can offer! Thank you in advance!!

I've not camped there myself, but being a nosey motorhome owner I have clocked the positioning of the campsite which seems to be well sited, and rather tempting. I imagine that it is grass only. I can't recall what other amenities it has, but it is (or was when I last went) just plonked in part of the parkland.

Chatsworth is compact but hilly, so a good off roader pushchair with fit people to push it around would be a necessity. It's a great event.

Does it have to be in/on the grounds of Chatsworth Park, as there is a Caravan and Motorhome Club site right next door will all of the amenities?

Google Chatsworth Park caravan and motorhome club site, it's on www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-sites/england/peak-district /derbyshire/chatsworth-park-club-campsite. It is NOT the site used for the XC event but is within Chatsworth estate complete with hard standings, showers, toilets, laundry facilities, wi-fi, disability access, family washrooms, nearby farm shop etc.

The site has 120 pitches you might get lucky if you book soon, at the XC there's heavy horses dog classes, and pony club games and 100+ stalls. Go on Google earth put in Chatsworth house and it clearly shows the camping club site just to the left of the house

Thank you. Yes I think we might be better using a well known site. It’s strange that Chatsworth don’t make more information available for their own campsite at the event when they clearly advertise camping with them!!

Thank you. You mean the Caravan & Motorhome Club site has 120 pitches? We are not currently members (members of Camping&Caravanning Club instead) but I think even with adding on another membership a stay there will be cheaper than staying at the event itself. It’s a shame, I can’t get any info about actually camping at the event! People must have done it! Maybe I will try phoning them!

We live about ten minutes from Chatsworth and the motorhome/caravan site gets booked up for the horse trials at the start of the year (friends of my parents stay there). However, you may get lucky and get a last min cancellation. In the past, you used to be able to walk from the site straight into the park for the horse trials (and not pay!) but now you do need tickets to get in too.
I am afraid I don’t know anything about the camping onsite apart from it is next to the main gate.

However, there are absolutely loads of campsites (including camping and caravan club farm/mini sites) within the local area and they are probably much cheaper than the Chatsworth ones too.

Thank you very much. I’m not surprised the main site gets booked up! Makes sense.

I've stayed in the Chatsworth motor home & caravan club a couple of times & it's a lovely site from memory with very friendly ducks if they are still around !

Not stayed when Chatswirth was on mind, but if you can get in you'd be very comfortable and close.

Im interested to know if you ended up booking the campsite actually at Chatsworth - like you say theres absolutely no information about pitches etc. I have messaged to ask them as interested for next year instead of Badminton!!

Hello. No I didn’t! I wasn’t confident considering the lack of first hand reviews! I’m pleased I didn’t now looking like most (if not all) has been abandoned!!

Fortune favours the brave - I wouldn't have risked taking our motorhome to Chatsworth this soggy year, but these hardy types are safely on their pitches. Hope they are deploying their sand ladders. Pic taken from FB.

It looks to be very well set out.
