My 1 year old cocker spaniel Went missing last week thankfully a lady found her and brought her inside and called the number on her name tag when I came to collect her she told me that her husky had mated with my dog ive been doing some research and it says online that dogs can’t usually have the puppies if the father is bigger has anyone ever had a similar experience and did your dog successfully have her puppy’s?

Not impossible. I was once involved with a caesarian on a 2kg chihuahua mum who had been mated with a very large staffie. Result was one very large, dead puppy. Luckily the bitch survived. Some dogs will be fine though, depends.

Speak to your vet, they can have an alizin injection to terminate the pregnancy. If not, then be prepared to potentially pay for a c-section (extra costs associated if out of hours) if the mum has trouble giving birth. Was your bitch in heat?

Talk to your vet. Time is of the essence as your options may be time limited.
I have he said my dog is a good sized cocker spaniel he said he can do a gravid spay but I intend on breeding her with my male cocker so I don’t want her spayed he then said when the puppies have bones he can do X-rays to monitor them he said just because the father is big doesn’t mean to puppies will be big

Well I’m going to say it.... in my opinion there is no way you should be breeding from your bitch if you are not even able to keep her secure when she is in season
All my dogs roam freely on my property I have a lot of land and they don’t run off this is the first time she’s ever run off in the year I’ve had her and I knew nothing about a mismate jab I thought once a bitch was pregnant there was nothing u could do other than spay and the vet didn’t offer a jab he only offered to spay but I will get the jab since I was planning on breeding her with my other cocker anyways she may not even be pregnant

Very stressful indeed
You’ve also included my stolen horse maybe you can be “really” helpful by sharing his photo on a Facebook page called “find prettyboy”

Just out of interest how old is your bitch? You've had her a year, have you had her since a pup? If so then she's too young to have pups anyway. Your vet probably advised spaying as he feels you are too irresponsible to be a breeder seeing as you can't even keep an in season bitch safe.
As I said she’s never ran away before and I’ve had terriers in season and they’ve never ran away my dogs always hang around and are right by my side all day long follow me in this huge posse and I’m not a breeder I plan on keeping the puppies from her litter it’s not for profit

Oh dear, is this a follow on from the riding centre/pat a pony at the Estate owned by a friend/relative? It would be an entirely irresponsible cross and I'm surprised your vet didn't tell you the consequences. Best to get your bitch jagged or speyed. You may not make any money from breeding and anyway a year if far too young to put in pup. Maybe just enjoy watching Crufts on the telly, perhaps there will be some useful advice on there.
It may well still be half term but seriously Rosie there's no way you'd want to keep 6 / 7/ 8 puppies from the same litter, just not practical whatever your intentions. How could you afford the feed and inoculation costs/micro-chipping etc?

You plan on keeping ALL the puppies??!!! Seriously, you do know how many pups can be in a litter? Why would you want to do that?

I haven't seen anyone suggesting that you are breeding for profit, I have seen people who appear to have similar concerns to my own that you don't have the experience or animal husbandry skills to cope with a litter of puppies, which is why I would get the poor bitch spayed ASAP...

I never intended on her getting pregnant and when I do breed her i wanted it to be with my boy cocker spaniel not a husky I wouldn’t even get a husky if someone offered it for free not a single drop of loyalty in them I had her locked away in a stable but she jumped out like 3 days later since all my dogs are loyal the fences I have only keep horses in not dogs they go under or over
