Can a horse change this much since 2002?

Ok so the birth year according to the passport is 2002.
The description page was signed in 2005.

The description is as follows (I've left out the whorls coz they are everywhere!) the bits in red are the bits that are true to how she is now:

Markings on head - elongated heart shaped star starting below forelock. Flesh coloured between nostrils and lower lip. 2 black spots on muzzle. White stripe between mandables. Black forelock & Mane about 1/4 - 3/4 white.

Markings on neck - left side blue patch from behind ears round chest and down foreleg, right side blue from upper neck round under side & chest to mid foreleg.

Markings on limbs -
Left fore - blue on front of foreleg
Right fore - none
Left hind - blue upper thigh - (she does have a blue patch but on her lower thigh)
Right hind - blue upper thigh - (again there is a blue patch on her lower thigh)

Markings on body - patch across back over withers extending lower on left than right. Right side patch on shoulder and underside of belly.

B1 was a lovely purple liver chestnut with white spots in 2003. She's now almost all white.

She looks very much like one of mine (only he is heavier and fluffier ). He was very clearly blue and white when he came but is now pure grey. When wet though the blue patches come out again.

Are you saying the blue eye wasn't noted in the original description? That is a bit odd.

Yes, of course she can. The greying gene will eventually make all grey horses white, the speed varies. That's why the whorls are so important............

My Grey welshie was passported at 3 and her passport mentions some markings. She has none now. Definitely the same pony though!

You might be able to tell better when she is bathed. My Sec A is pure white now and has been ever since I bought him at 8 years old. But he was born piebald - I got in touch with his breeder and she sent me foal pictures. You can still see his black and pink skin when he is bathed. Not sure though whether blue patches have black or pink skin underneath, but you might be able to see a difference.

Yes I agree - give him a bath then look at his skin tones underneath. I could never understand why my friend's grey pony was called Patch until she washed him! Our old section A's passport said bay turning roan, she was dapple when we had her, then nearly white when we saw her a year later..

absolutely, our mare lightend dramatically in the three years we had her, she was blue and white... she is now all grey but clip her out and you will find piebald coloured skin

I'm definitely giving her a bath on a nice warm day now, I want to see the cute piebald patches under all the fluff now

I'm on a massive trace the ponies kick just now, have recently sent a letter to my lad's previous registered owner and I've just written one to the above mare's previous registered owner - and done the whole facebook thing and started a post in lost, trace or track room So I was reading her passport for the info needed and it got me wondering at how much she'd changed over the years

Is it those patches visible on her hindlegs in the photos that are the ones you say are in the wrong place? The original description is correct - that would be upper thigh/stifle. Lower thigh would be just above the hocks.
