Hello,
my question is do you think from my description my tb has rain scold or lice or some other type of skin condition

last year I spent hundreds on vet bills for mud fever and what the vet thought might have been a small infestation of lice after numerous jabs and sprays and baths we finaly got him back to health was told to feed baileys no4 and outshine and fast fiber/fibre beat and chaff and keep him rugged well from sep onwards. He's gained loads of weight and looks healthy no mud fever this year but he began to be very itchy on his arm pit under his back leg and all his back and sides been washing with a wash for skin conditions and lice and applying hypocare but still hasn't stopped him itching... Carnt really see any lice on him but he's got lots of small bald patches on his coat and I'm not sure if the scabs on the wound are from him itching so bad and breaking the skin. It's Saturday and the vet is coming Monday but just wondered if any of you knew what it might be also took his rug off yesterday after id been at work and noticed white dandruff all over his hair (turned light out and used a torch) still couldn't see any moving of lice but stil very itchy and if you rub you hands on his back he stretches his head out infront widens his eyes and flaps his top lip about. I carnt underStand why this white flakes are on his coat as he is brushed with the kb99 brushes and have been bathing him once a week sins he started itching 2 weeks ago.
Thanks every one!

Hi thanks for reply, yes he's not the best horse to stable but if he's not stabled he looses weight so quickly... But on a morning if your not there by sun rise he gets all worked up and storms about shaking his head and banging the door down then as soon as you open the door he's back to being a dope! But it's the same with bringing him In if your not there the exact same time each day he shouts and shouts at the house And if he hears my voice or even sees my car I have to go put him in straight away orels he sweats up iv tried just popping one rug on but he shivers and has a right carry on (my friend says he's a diva because he's such a puff) carnt see any pussy or infected scabs just this constant driving him crazy itching and bald patches and what looks like slice marks on his back I have a pic of the wound but I'm not sure how to get it up on my phone. I'm hoping vet will know what it is and how to treat it and won't just tell me to do as I'm doing but give me a whacking bill! Thanks again!

read my thread on extremely itchy horse, have just updated and sounds exactly the same.
The flakiness is probably because all the washing will have removed the natural oils from his coat and dried his skin out.
