Has anyone used or can recommend the Norton endurance type raid saddle (synthetic). I would like a really comfy saddle for hacking out on and this looks quite good. I have also found a new one in a sale for 100 euros which is not bad. However, would like to see some reviews first. Obviously this is not my first saddle, so would like to not have to keep buying different ones. Or is is better to check out a saddle fitter and see what second hand saddles they have which would be a better fit? Thanks

I couldn't recommend the synthetic treeless saddle at all! After 50 years riding experience I have come off my 17 year old homebred twice since purchasing saddle in April 2011. I believe there is a design fault which allows the stirrup leathers to detach from the bar whilst in use. 1st accident resulted in broken hand as I tried to adjust myself, not knowing what was happening. I put it down to having an off day, 6 weeks later, when out of plaster, another accident resulted in me being airlifted to hospital after being knocked unconscious. The last thing I'd remembered was thinking I must've forgotten to tighten my girth and the whole saddle was slipping, but friends who were with me say again the stirrup leather became detatched. The last time I used the saddle I was trotting round an extremely busy roundabout when the leather slipped the bar yet again, so I endeed up holding the leather whilst finishing the maneouver.
As a result I have missed many hours out of the saddle during the summer, and my confidence took quite a bashing.
My saddle went back to the distributor in France about 15 weeks ago, they still have it and have not given a verdict as yet.
